Founding Director's Message
"CSR IS THE WAY YOU MAKE PROFIT, NOT THE WAY YOU DISTRIBUTE PROFIT"
Corporate Social Responsibility is the vehicle for any type of organization to contribute to Sustainable Development. All CSR activities must have one end objective, that is to achieve Sustainability. Conducting effective CSR means doing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-Bound) based on ISO 26000.
CSR is a strategic investment which will provide organization with returns, in the form of social license to operate, increased organisation’s reputation, reduced business interruptions, and higher stock price.
In order to get those returns through effective CSR, all organisations (company, non-profit organization, etc.) need to understand how to:
Through our curriculum at MM-Sustainability Trisakti University, the students will gain all the knowledge and skills required to meet the aforementioned needs. Our organisation aims to contribute to sustainable development through providing a "Trial and Improve" Curriculum by providing real case studies, "Sustainability Tree" Games, Field Visit, Regular Seminar, and CSR Clinic.
CSR CAN CONTRIBUTE TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT BY SUPPORTING COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Community Entrepreneurship is a branch of knowledge that originated from Social Entrepreneurship. To us, social enterprise is an enterprise that converts social issues into business opportunities. Community enterprise is a social enterprise that is owned by community. It is imperative to promote local community ownership that enables community becomes owner of their own business while solving social problems. Community enterprise will increase the dignity of the community and sense of belonging of the business and resulted in sustainable impact business activities.
MM-CE is a post graduate program with specialisation in Community Entrepreneurship which will benefit at least two sectors, i.e.: private sector: companies and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and third sector: non-government/non-profit organisations (NGOs/NPOs). Private sector will understand how to set "Exit Strategy" for their CSR program by preparing the community to have their own business through setting up a Community Enterprise. SMEs can turn their usual business into enterprises that solve social problems. Third sector, which are NGOs or NPOs, can convert their organisations into income-generating organisations while still dedicating to their missions in solving social issues.
Through MM-CE, we prepare the students to understand how to:
-
Enhance their empathy to care about social issues
-
Identify core problems in the society, whether it’s social, economic, or natural environmental issues
-
Design and develop social innovation
-
Develop a social enterprise business plan
-
Establish and maintain a community enterprise
Our main objectives to establish MM-CE are to bridge between private sector and social entrepreneur as well as preparing many social entrepreneurs to solve social issues in partnership with private sectors.
SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS CAN BE CRATED IF THE COMPANIES UNDERSTAND HOW TO CONDUCT ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT (ERM) BASED ON ISO 31000
Enterprise Risk Management should be seen as the umbrella for both, CSR and Community Enterprise. It is the key driver for creating a sustainable business and determining which CSR activities should be undertaken.
The elective subjects related to ERM are designed to enable the students to understand HOW to:
-
Conduct a risk assessment to support a CSR project/program throughout its life cycle.
-
Relate risk and compliance with the concepts, theories and practices of businesses and CSR
-
Design a CSR risk framework using the 5 key components described in ISO 31000 using a workplace based case study.
After graduating from the subjects, the students are expected to be able to identify and mitigate the risks in order to sustain their business activities through sustainable impact creation for the community.
